Boston Common's one of the region's most treasured gathering places, and one of the space's most popular events might be the Boston Common Tree Lighting Ceremony. This annual event marks a beginning to the holiday season, and this year it happens on December 3 from 5 – 8 p.m.
From 5 til 6 p.m. on December 3, The Skating Club of Boston will present a live figure-skating show on Boston Common's Frog Pond. The club includes numerous top-flight figure skaters, and — according to the Boston Frog Pond website — the show will include synchronized skating and Theatre On Ice teams as well. To prepare for the show, the Frog Pond will be closed to public skating from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., but it'll open back up to the public at 6:30 p.m. (Click here to see the Frog Pond's hours of operation and admission and rental fees.)
Stick around after the show and you can see the Tree Lighting Ceremony! It all happens just a short trip from Windsor Village at Waltham at Boston Common!
